The schools of the Roman
Catholic Diocese of Albany are preparing students to go on to college and/or
the workplace in the 21st century. These students will be challenged by a
technologically advanced global society. To prepare them, we must make sure
all students are not only familiar but also proficient with the tools of
technology to obtain information, to communicate and to solve problems. In an
effort to monitor the progress of our students in attaining this goal, four
lists of competencies, K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, based on the National
Educational Standards for Students (NETS), have been created for the
students in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. Throughout the course of
each student's computer time and through a variety of classroom activities,
the student will work toward the mastery of these competencies. Evaluations
will be completed for each student at the end of the year, then sent to the
student's teacher the following year, It is the goal that ALL students master
the listed competencies at the end of each benchmark year: grade 2, grade 5,
grade 8 and grade 12. These competencies will be updated as the technology
changes.
