We will once again be participating in the First Niagara School Banking Club. Each week (Tuesdays) students will be able to make deposits into their savings accounts. Only deposits can be made at school. Withdrawals can be made at any branch of First Niagara Bank. 

All Kindergarteners and Pre-Kindergarteners receive a new account packet at the beginning of the school year. Anyone else wishing to open a new account must send a note in on banking day. We will send home a new account kit. You cannot begin to bank until you receive your account number from First Niagara Bank.  You will be ready to bank when your account letter is received from the bank or you have an existing account.

The banking program encourages frequency rather than the amount of the deposit. Prizes are rewarded on the 7th, 14th, 21st, etc deposits. A year end drawing is held by the bank for the children who deposit.

To make a deposit:

  • Please place deposits in a Ziploc bag marked with Name, Account Number, Grade and Teacher.

  • Make out a deposit slip (or piece of paper with name and account number) which includes date and deposit amount.

Money will be accepted as follows:

  • Minimum deposit is 25 cents.

  • No loose change over $1.00

  • 2-4 rolls of coin at most

  • Checks not exceeding $999.99

Bank deposits may be returned for the following reasons:

  • There is no deposit slip

  • The deposit slip does not agree with the money

  • There is too much change in the bag

  • There is no name on anything

Other Information:

  • The savings account belongs to the child, not their parent/guardian.

  • The bank will make a $1.00 deposit to the account after it is activated by the child's first deposit.

  • Only deposits can be made at school. Withdrawals and deposits can be made at any First Niagara Bank branch. Withdrawal slips must have the signature of the child and the parent/legal guardian who signed the signature card.

  • Semi-annual statements are mailed to the student's home.

  • Contests and incentive prizes throughout the school year!

Our first banking day this year will be October 2nd, 2007. Those students who already have an account will be able to make deposits on that day.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer as a banker (parents and grandparents) it would be greatly appreciated. Please call our school office at 785-6453.
