Mr. Jim Leveskas and Mrs. Doreen Morgan have been appointed as
the new administrative team to serve the St. Ambrose School
community.
"It is a pleasure to be the principal of this wonderful school",
Mr. Leveskas recently said. "The dedication of the teachers and the
support of the entire school family has been overwhelming to see. It
is exciting to be here. I am very grateful to everyone who has made
me feel very welcome, especially to Fr. DuBois and Sister James
Marie.
Both Mr. Leveskas and Mrs. Morgan came to St. Ambrose from St.
Casimir's School in Albany where they worked together for almost 10
years. "We made a great team and enjoyed working with one another,"
said Mrs. Morgan. "We really helped our St. Casimir's families in so
many ways. I look forward to doing the same here at St. Ambrose."
Mrs. Morgan is a resident of Loudonville. She is married and has
two daughters, Kelly and Casey. She brings her welcoming presence to
St. Ambrose School. Her love for children and concern for others is
easy to see.
Mr. Leveskas is a resident of Delmar, where he recently moved to
from Rensselaerville. He began his career in education as a choral
director and junior high music teacher in New York. He has been a
junior high English teacher, middle school teacher, and was a
kindergarten teacher his first year at St. Casimir's. "It was my
toughest teaching assignment" said Mr. Leveskas.
"I hope that as the new principal of St. Ambrose School" said Mr
Leveskas, "I will continue to build the pride that every member in
this school community hopefully feels about this school"
A Letter to Parents:
Welcome to Saint Ambrose School! We are a Pre-Kindergarten
through eighth grade, co-educational Catholic School. Our school is
located in a lovely, suburban setting in Latham, New York. We are
easily accessible from all directions and have bus transportation
provided for our students from most school districts. I consider it
a great pleasure and honor to serve as principal and I hope that
this website will give you an opportunity to get acquainted with the
many special ways that we can help your child grow, both spiritually
and academically. Throughout the pages of our website, you will get
an idea of the many wonderful qualities of our school along with the
joys and successes of our students. As principal, I know the
personal sacrifices that parents make when investing in a Catholic
school education for their children. I can attest to the fact that,
within the walls of Saint Ambrose School, your children are
receiving the best education possible. Our educational approach is
all encompassing, because we strive to educate a child’s mind,
heart, spirit and soul! In addition to our rigorous academic program
that allows each child’s mind and intellect to flourish and grow, it
is our belief that by also positively guiding their heart, spirit
and soul we truly educate them as a whole person. We encourage just
attitudes and behavior in each child to promote a sense of values
that will prepare them for their journey through life. I promise you
that the rewards are great. It is with immense pride that I wish to
share here just a few ways that we strive to make a difference in
the lives of all who have been a part of our school.
SCHOOL ATMOSPHERE:
Our children learn in a caring atmosphere motivated by the doctrine
"What would Jesus do?" This is our inspiration for developing,
within each child, the moral compass that is needed as they strive
to succeed and make positive contributions throughout their
lifetime. Since the Gospel spirit is one of peace, brotherhood,
love, patience and respect for others, we believe that a school
rooted in these principles helps cultivate in their students, a keen
social awareness and a profound sense of responsibility. These
skills, when learned at a young age at Saint Ambrose School, will
help each child make our world a better place. These children truly
are our future.
STAFF:
Our school has a reputation for creativity, dedication
and excellence. We have a highly qualified teaching staff, comprised
of both Sisters from various religious orders and lay teachers, that
work hard to reach each child both academically and emotionally. Our
small class sizes encourage and foster a high level of attention to
the needs of each child. Their success is continually demonstrated
in our school’s high academic scores on the New York State
standardized tests. Our teachers choose Saint Ambrose School because
there is also a need in their hearts to respond to God’s call to
serve and educate in an environment by spreading his word, on a
daily basis. They strive to awaken in their students a spirit of
personal initiative. Their devotion to this teaching philosophy
makes a positive difference in the life of each child.
PARENT COMMUNITY:
Saint Ambrose School has a very supportive and involved
parent community. We believe that a strong partnership between our
school, each classroom and home is so important to the success of
each student and to our school. We invite you to be active in our
school, through the many opportunities available, at whatever level
of involvement you desire. Without the support and participation
from parent and family volunteers we would not be able to achieve
our dreams. Working together enhances the caring school environment
that makes our school so special.
I invite you to learn more about Saint Ambrose School by browsing
through our website. We also welcome members of all faiths, who
adhere to our basic philosophy, to join our school community. My
door is always open and I would be honored to answer any of your
questions. I thank you for your interest and continued support. May
God bless your family in many ways.
