6th Grader Wins Art Contest

A design by St. Ambrose student Elizabeth P. has been selected to be the basis for HSBC Bank USA’s Central New York regional holiday campaign. As a result, our art program received a  check for $1,000.

Elizabeth participated in the contest through school as a 5th grader last spring and her design was subsequently selected as the winner for the region. The drawing based on the theme “Peace on Earth Begins in Our Community, features snow falling on a peaceful village.

It will be the basis for the bank’s holiday cards and branch materials in Central New York and will be broadcast from HSBC’s electronic billboard in Times Square, NYC, periodically during the holiday season.

“The design created by Elizabeth perfectly captures the desired theme,” said Nina Tyzik, Albany executive for HSBC Bank USA. “We are pleased to be able to showcase her work throughout the area during the holiday season and to support St. Ambrose’s art program.

HSBC officials presented a check for $1,000 for art supplies to St. Ambrose art teacher Sr. Vivian Giulianelli Tuesday afternoon at 2:15 in the gym. Elizabeth’s drawing was unveiled and she was presented with an art kit. Julianne was the runner up. She was also presented with an art kit.
