February-March in Pre-K
We had
our first major snowstorm in February which gave us 2 snow days! When we
returned we had a combination Valentine and 100 Days of School celebration. We
then talked about dental hygiene and had a visit from 2 dental hygienists.
Kristen Britt was our a.m. hygienist and Michelle Pascarella was our p.m.
hygienist. Thanks to both for a great lesson!
The end of February we began to learn about Lent and Ash Wednesday. March started off with learning all about dinosaurs. We learned all about fossils and pretended to be paleontologists in the sand table. We then moved on to St. Patrick's Day. We continued our theme on Lent and each day picked a good deed out of a basket to do.
We also learned that Easter is celebrated in the Spring when things come back to life just like Jesus resurrection. We are watching our science project - caterpillars developing into chrysalis and soon butterflies. Happy Easter! Happy Spring!
January in Pre-K

Pre-K started the New Year off by learning to recognize the alphabet and also the beginning sounds the letters make. We learned about the Feast of the Epiphany and put our shoes out in the hall for some treats from 3 wise men. We also took part in celebrating St. Ambrose's 50 year celebration. We looked great in our 1950's fashion. We ended the month with school spirit for our annual Catholic Schools Week. We wore our pajamas to school on Monday and brought our favorite bedtime story to be read to us. We had fun watching the volleyball and basketball games. On Wednesday, we wore our crazy hats and had a terrific time on the Bouncy Bounce. Friday was Special Person's/Grandparent's Day - we stole the show with out "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" song!

October in Pre-K
Happy Fall, Y'all ! The
month of October proved to be yet another busy month. We took learning our
colors a step further and learned all of the colors in sign language. We invited
our parents to come to class one day and watch us sign and say the story "Brown
Bear, Brown Bear, What do you Hear" by Eric Carle. Most of us can even read most
of the color words, too. We had fun learning about squirrels. We played in
the sand table for the first time! In the sand table were acorn, pinecones, nuts
- squirrels favorite food. We went outside on a nature hunt to look for signs of
Fall. We saw colored leaves. We had fun walking through leaf piles. We even
found mole holes! Next we moved on to pumpkins. We compared and contrasted
them to apples. We carved a pumpkin in the classroom and were surprised how many
seeds were inside. We also learned about the lifecycle of a pumpkin. Lastly, we
learned all about shapes. We did a great job at drawing them, too!

September in Pre-K
Well, the Pre-K program is off to a great start. We have been very busy getting to know each other and adjusting to our classroom routine. We have also been busy academically. Pre-K learned all about apples and where and how they grow. They have been graphing, in math, the apples they like to eat the best and estimating how many seeds they think are in an apple. They also graphed the classes physical features. In religion we learned about the creation story and Adam and Eve. They also found out about their names and why they were given their names. We found in the Bible, the passage from Isaiah where it states God knew us and our names even before we were born. We also have been talking about many saints whose feast days are this month. We are almost 20 days into our 100th Day of school countdown. We also tried our hand at our first printing project of a Fall poem. Lastly, we said goodbye to summer and hello to our new season Fall.
Check out our great September photos!
