"SAINT AMBROSE SCHOOL’S CARING KIDS"
List of Projects

As a school community, we have witnessed God's many blessings. One of the ways that we can express our gratitude for his gifts is to understand and address the needs of those far less fortunate than ourselves. In addition to learning the facts and information associated with our strong academic curriculum, it is Saint Ambrose School’s heartfelt desire to teach our students to be empathetic, sympathetic and attentive to the sorrow and struggles of others. We feel that it is equally important to educate a child’s mind, heart, spirit and soul. It has always been our belief that each child possesses, within themselves, the continued hope for a brighter future. Children are natural givers, they are trendsetters and they are unafraid to create change. Through the guidance of Saint Ambrose School’s community service program, we can empower our students to make the lives of others somewhat happier. The ways that we can accomplish this are innumerable because the needs of others are so great. We believe that by partaking in charitable acts of kindness as youths it will foster a sense of altruism that will remain in their nature throughout their lifetime. It is our goal and dream to graduate students that possess these beliefs and values.

Saint Ambrose School’s "Caring Kids" is a structured community service program within our school. The service projects are designed to be age appropriate. Each class, from the Pre-Kindergarten level through eighth grade, under the supervision and guidance, of their homeroom teacher and the community service program coordinator, will perform at least one service project every school year. The majority of the projects are implemented solely within the classrooms, with some onsite, hands-on events reserved for the middle school level age group. Upon the completion of the specific project, the classroom responsible for its implementation will share with the entire school, their accomplishments at one of the monthly student masses, held on Friday mornings, throughout the school year. This will enable every student to learn and grow from the experiences being shared. We also invite parents to attend these special masses to witness the excitement and hear the positive contributions that your children are making in our community and beyond. The projects will be designed to assist those less fortunate, living in our Albany community and some specifically planned to help families in our parish community. In addition, we will honor and show our appreciation to the brave members of the armed services, currently serving our country. We will also focus our efforts on international relief programs and pressing environmental issues.

This program is just one of many ways that Saint Ambrose School can provide each student with the ability to understand that, through their charitable efforts, they can make the lives of others that are less fortunate, a little brighter. It is our goal to help them to imagine what our world would be like if each and every one of us took a little time out of our busy schedules to do something truly unselfish and giving for others. This is the kind of world that we can only hope our children can grow up in. We are trying to impart on them the lesson that they can make a difference and although they are young they can still do great things! They are our hope for a better tomorrow, because these children truly are our future!

God Bless You,
