SCHOOL BOARD:

The School Board is a consultative body in making policy operating a school in the Diocese of Albany and is subject to such policies as proposed for the Diocesan School Board and the regulations of the Superintendent of Catholic Schools. (Article II - Section I)

MEMBERSHIP:  The Holy Spirit School Board will represent the entire school community.  The Pastor is responsible for and oversees the education of all the children of Holy Spirit School.  To implement this charge, he will share and delegate responsibilities to the Board.  Generally, there will be nine (9) members on the Board including the Pastor.  Eight (8) members will be elected and/or appointed.  When there are at least 12 families from one of our Regional Parishes, each year the Pastor may appoint a Board Representative.  This Board will have a single Executive Officer, the school administrator, who will be responsible to the Board for carrying out its policies and be responsible administratively to the Holy Spirit Parish Pastor and the  Diocesan Superintendent of Schools.  This officer is not a member of the Board and has no vote.  New members will be determined by June 30 and assume office at that time.  The necessary appointments will be made in accordance with Article III, Section 1.

MEETINGS:  All meetings of the Board are to be open meetings unless designated as Executive.  The right of non-members to address the Board will be limited to those who petition the Board prior to the meeting and are approved for the agenda.  Executive sessions should not be held except when discussions will involve personalities or be such as to have an adverse effect on a financial transaction.
